Consulting Opportunities

We are seeking principal consultants to serve as consulting team leaders at SEM. This role combines deep industry expertise with strategic thinking to deliver high-impact solutions for our clients. The ideal candidate will drive complex projects, foster client relationships, and contribute to the firm’s growth and thought leadership. Principal consultants will leverage their extensive experience to guide teams, mentor junior staff, and provide insights on critical healthcare and public health challenges. Key responsibilities include:
  • Manage client relationships and serve as the main point of contact between clients and SEM
  • Research and identify new business opportunities
  • Manage internal teams and oversee project plans, timelines and deliverables
  • Assure quality delivery of all SEM products and services
  • Supervise staff
  • Contribute to thought leadership and industry publications
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in public health Doctor of Public Health, advanced degree in healthcare administration (MBA), or MD
  • 10+ years of consulting experience in healthcare or public health
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid and proven leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Proven track record of business development and client relations
We seek a detail-oriented Research Assistant to support our consulting team in delivering high-quality insights and solutions to public health and healthcare clients. The ideal candidate will assist in data collection, analysis, and report preparation for various consulting projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct literature reviews on public health and healthcare topics
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize quantitative data
  • Prepare interview questions, interview subjects, and summarize interviews
  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and tracking
  • Prepare and format project plans, timelines, presentations, and reports
  • Assist in preparing client presentations, reports, and other deliverables
  • Support consultants in project-related tasks and research activities
  • Maintain organized research databases and project files
  • Track the progress of work over time
  • Work with the development team to report on grant-funded outcomes and projects
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years of experience, preferably in public health or healthcare
  • Strong analytical and data management skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in research software and Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
This position will require expertise in both database design and complex statistical methods and algorithms. Expected projects will include the design of research and operational databases and statistical analyses. Prioritizing and coordinating multiple tasks to achieve tight deadlines (as determined by commitments to funding agencies) and complying promptly with administrative requests and requirements. This position will use data science and statistical software like Python, R, and SAS to analyze and interpret research data.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze data from primary and secondary public health and healthcare sources
  • Develop and implement databases and data collection systems and be able to maintain and update those systems
  • Work with team members to define the requirements on multiple projects and then be able to translate those requirements into appropriate systems
  • Build and maintain data dashboards by using data visualization tools
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs across multiple teams and projects
  • Research and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Design and develop scripts to transform data from multiple data sources into primary data collection centers and make the data analytical-ready
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or related field
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel, and statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS)
  • Experience with public health and healthcare organizations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • 2+ years of experience in a Data Analyst role
